Bad Billy list
On Home and Kids Books, we collect your email address to send news about Bad Billy and new AL-Oose books.
I Want More form
On other pages, we collect your name, email address, optional mobile number and chosen interests to send updates about those interests. If you write us a message, it's emailed to us so we can reply. It isn't stored on the website.
Contact form
We use the name, email address, subject and message you send to reply to you. These details are emailed to us.
Accounts, orders and client records
If you create an account, we store your first and last names, email address and a password hash. For purchases, we store your email address, package or product details, amount paid, purchase date and payment reference, linked to your account where applicable. Stripe processes payments; we never see your card numbers. Client records can also contain your address, mobile number, date of birth, purchase or booking details, completed artwork and referral information, to manage the services you use.
Site features and local storage
For the Yeah Boi Hit feature, we store the selected music track, clip timing and vote totals to show and rate musical moments. We use browser storage for book-buying preferences and form display choices, and cookies for account sessions. Our hosting and email services may also keep technical logs, such as request or error details, to run and troubleshoot the site. We also keep your cart and sound settings in your browser.
Children
Our sign-up and contact forms are for adults (parents, caregivers and teachers). Please don't send us a child's personal details.
Meta Pixel
The site uses the Meta Pixel, which sets cookies and sends page-view and sign-up events to Meta (Facebook/Instagram) to measure and improve our ads. Opt out through your browser's cookie settings or Meta's ad preferences: https://www.facebook.com/adpreferences
Videos and music players
Some pages show videos or music from other services (such as YouTube). When you play them, those services may collect information under their own privacy policies.
Who processes your information
Meta processes advertising event data, GoDaddy provides our email service, Replit hosts the website and stored data, and Stripe processes payments. We never sell your information. Some of these providers store information outside New Zealand (for example in the United States).
How long we keep it
We keep list email addresses until you unsubscribe, and other information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, including any legal record-keeping requirements. To unsubscribe, reply with UNSUBSCRIBE or email contact@al-oose.com. We will remove you within 5 working days.
Your rights
Under the NZ Privacy Act 2020, you can ask to see, correct or delete your information by emailing contact@al-oose.com. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
